Yager Furniture, located on Main Street in downtown Berne, Indiana, is the oldest family owned furniture store in the area. Established in 1910 by Lawrence Yager and Eli Bierie, Yagers is entering its 101st year of business.
Yagers, once known as Bierie and Yager Furniture and Undertaking, offered home furnishings such as sofas, leather rocking chairs, rugs, mattresses, bedroom and dining room furniture, electrical appliances, and pianos.
In 1937, Lawrence Yager became the sole owner and changed the name to Yager Furniture. As the business began to prosper, Lawrence’s sons, Jerome and Luther joined the business and store expanded to three floors in order to accommodate additional furniture brands.
Rose Yager Kirchhofer, Jerome’s daughter, joined the staff in 1960 and introduced the interior design department. Floor displays were enhanced and again a wider selection of furniture was added. John Kirchhofer, present owner and manager and husband of Rose Yager Kirchhofer, joined the Yager organization in 1978. In the 1980’s, the store was remodeled and wall dividers were added to accommodate room like settings for furniture display.

John Kirchhofer
John is the present owner and manager of Yager Furniture. The husband of Rose Yager Kirchhofer, he became affiliated with the firm in 1978. His leadership has been instrumental in providing positive store growth.
Wanda Brown
Wanda joined the Yager Furniture staff in 1961. She is the current Office Manager, head of the Yager Furniture Accounting Department, and assists in the sales and advertising department. Wanda also is the Yager Furniture Assistant Buyer traveling to the annual High Point Furniture Market in High Point, North Carolina.
Marcia Rich
Marcia became a member of the Yager Furniture Design Team in 1977. She earned her degree in interior design from IPFW in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Marcia is the Lead Sales Associate as well as the Primary Buyer for Yager Furniture attending the annual High Point Furniture Market in High Point, North Carolina. She heads the Design Studio which specializes in window blinds, draperies, area rugs, and bedding ensembles.
Gerald Walker
Gerald joined Yager Furniture in 2000. Jerry is the Scheduling Department Manager & the Assistant Warehouse Manager. He is the Delivery coordinator and assists with in store floor display. Gerald is also a member of the Quality and Inventory Control Team.
Randy Braun
Randy joined Yager Furniture in the fall of 2010 as Warehouse Manager. Randy attended Mohawk Finishing School in Chicago where he received specialized training in Furniture Finishing & Repair. Randy heads all of the custom blind and drapery installations, assists with store deliveries, and is a trained sales associate.
Kelley Terveer
Kelley joined the Yager Furniture team in 2008 after receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. After moving to Columbus, Ohio to work in merchandising and Home Furnishing Sales, she rejoined the Yager Design team in 2011. Staci Huey
In 2009, Yager Furniture added their newest Interior Designer, Staci. Staci received her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne where she studied Interior Design. Staci is the Assistant Manager of the Design Studio & helps with the coordination of Yager Furniture’s floor displays. Staci has the artistic ability & style to help you select the right furnishings and accessories to compliment the design of your home.
